One day in third grade, my mother came in after school to speak with my teacher. I was across the room looking at some of the posted student work when I overheard Mrs. Inafuku say about me, “She has a lot of potential in writing. She should do it more.” I took that to heart: I began journaling daily in third grade, joining essay contests in fourth grade, writing kick-ass papers for classes throughout academia years, and started a blog somewhere in between.

Fast forward two decades from that day, someone at a bar asked me what I would do if I had all the money in the world and not a worry. My answer was immediate: “I would write.”

Now, I don’t have all the money in the world and I have plenty of worries. Nonetheless, the time that I spend writing is the time that I feel most in tune with myself. So I carve out time from a life of project managing, running, photographing, and managing type 1 diabetes to continue my work on here.
